To prepare your Mushroom Swiss burgers, begin by slicing your onions and mushrooms into around 1/4 inch slices. The thicker slices will give a nice final texture in the burger. Next, form your ground beef into two 4oz balls. Once everything has been prepared and you are ready to cook, turn on your griddle and let it preheat for a few minutes. We are looking for a griddle temperature between 350-400 to help get a nice crust on the burgers.
With your Griddle heated, start by sauteeing your onions and mushrooms. You want them to be soft, browned nicely but still a slight crunch to add a bit of texture. This should take around 7-10 minutes. Once your onions and mushrooms are cooked to your liking, move it off the hot zone to the "keep warm" side. Next, place your balls of beef on the griddle and let them warm slightly before smashing them down on the griddle until they are as thin you prefer. Let them cook for a few minutes until the bottom has formed a nice brown crust. At that point flip the burgers and apply your swiss cheese to help them begin to melt.

After a few minutes, your cheese will be melted so remove them from the hot zone to the warm zone while you start to build your burgers.. On this burger start out with your toasted bun followed but a little bit of mayo. Next add on your burger patty, followed by your sauteed onions and mushrooms. Crown it with your top bun and you are ready to eat!
