This bacon wrapped chicken wings recipe is simple to do and is going to make for a great feast. All you need is some chicken wings, franks hot sauce, a rub of your choice and lastly a package of thin sliced bacon. Once you have everything, begin to prepare your wings by slathering your chicken wings with Franks hot sauce. This is going to add a bit of added flavour and a bit of spice to the final result. Next, apply a thin coating of your BBQ rub to the wings. It's important that you don't over season your wings because we are adding bacon which is a bit salty and you don't want your wings to be over salty. Once the wings have been tossed in your bbq rub, take a half of a strip of bacon and wrap it around the flat (wing) and when wrapping your drums use a full piece to wrap around with. With your wings wrapped in your bacon, add a little bit more of your BBQ rub to the top side of the bacon for a little bit of added color and texture.
With your bacon wrapped chicken wings prepared, place them onto your grill using the indirect cooking method. For this cook set up your grill for cooking around 325F. For use that meant placing a full chimney of briquettes into the grill and letting those coals come up to tempreture. Once your bacon wrapped wings are on the grill, add in an option chunk of your favourite wood to add a bit of nice smoky flavour and then close the lid and begin cooking for 30 minutes
After 30 minutes of cooking it's time to open up the grill and flip your wings. you will notice that the top portion of the wings have taken on some nice color and is starting to firm up while the bottom is still a bit soft. By flipping the wings it will help firm up the bottom section of bacon. Once flipped close the lid and continue to cook for 10-15 minutes. After 10-15 minutes open up the grill one last time and flip your wings so that the top of your wings finish crisping up. At this point your wings are fully cooked and so you are really cooking for your desired doneness on the bacon then you are internal temperatures. One your bacon is cooked the way you like, remove them from the grill and let them cool a few minutes before enjoying the feast!
